I was really disappointed with the album when it came out because I was expecting something along the lines of Salute (with the trap/R&B vibe that they touched on) and this took me by surprise lol I've come around to it since then and I really enjoy listening to it, but I skip quite a few songs on it too lol. The best ballads they've done have been on this album too - Towers, Good Enough, These Four Walls They made this album in a rush with a really tight budget, and this remains their only album without any collaborations but it's not lacking in any way at all because their harmonies, the production and vibe of the album have made this their best album (for me at least haha). The single EPs have lots of remixes and acoustics. It really shows their range and versatility while figuring out their sound, and it's truly an underrated album that yall should start with when getting into Little Mix's discography A debut album that still holds up till today for me, with songs like DNA, Madhouse, Love Drunk, Going Nowhere. They released How Ya Doin with Missy Elliot as a single, so it's not included in the album.
(also, everything I've linked is from Youtube because I've been using iTunes for ages and have everything downloaded on my computer, and I don't really know how to link over from Spotify, sorry!) In 2020, they cemented their legacy both on record and with Little Mix: The Search, a reality show tasked with putting together a next-generation band-demonstrating that their goal since they were put together in the early 2010s has been lifting up people all over the world through energetic, danceable pop.I've lurked around popheads for a long while now and I've been seeing lots of love for Little Mix around here recently and it doesn't seem like that many of you are familiar with what they've released besides Black Magic or LM5 lol, so I thought I'd make a post detailing what they've released so far so that you can explore their music properly! I searched on the sub and nothing came up so apologies if someone else has already done this before me! Since then, they have channelled confident girl groups like the Spice Girls and Destiny’s Child as well as forward-thinking singers like Janet Jackson and Rihanna, with singles like the sparkling “Black Magic”, the defiant “Shout Out to My Ex” and 2017’s chaotic Stormzy collab “Power” combining no-nonsense lyrics with immediate beats. Little Mix’s first single from their 2012 debut album, “Wings”, was an ideal opening statement for them, its themes of empowerment boosted by a stomping beat and a sing-along-worthy chorus.
Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall had all auditioned as solo singers when trying out for The X Factor but were put together early on in the show’s run, and their charisma and harmonies won over viewers. In the years since, the quartet have exceeded any expectations placed on them, performing spirited pop that unapologetically shows off its members’ personalities and effortlessly fit in with the 2010s’ constantly shifting pop trends. As the first group to win The X Factor, Little Mix set a high standard from their formation in 2011.
